Lessons in Localization Webinar 8: How Do We Know What Works? Perspectives on Local Capacity Strengthening

October 22, 2024

Capacity strengthening efforts are crucial for organizational sustainability to ensure improved access to and availability of health interventions and to the broader development agenda. USAID has made its Local Capacity Strengthening strategy a key pillar of the localization agenda.

In alignment with USAID’s Local Capacity Strengthening (LCS) Policy, NPI EXPAND has worked with over 90 local partners across 11 countries to strengthen capacity through grant implementation and other supporting strategies. While some success stories are easy to see, in most cases it takes years to see if capacity strengthening efforts were effective.
This event, How Do We Know What Works? Perspectives on Local Capacity Strengthening, will share NPI EXPAND’s approach to capacity strengthening and highlight the capacity strengthening journeys of NPI EXPAND local partners in several of our countries. We will also share the findings of a paper NPI EXPAND wrote on the topic and feature a panel discussion with Sarah Ellison, USAID Senior Policy Advisor, and Jasper Ondieki, NPI EXPAND’s former Capacity Strengthening Director. Featured local organizations will also share their perspectives on key capacity strengthening challenges.
