Josephine is a public health specialist with strong organizational leadership and managerial skills, with exposure to both public and NGO sector. She has 15+ years of experience in program management with a focus on health systems strengthening (HSS) in human resources for health (HRH), health commodities management, health leadership and governance, planning, Monitoring and evaluation systems, Maternal & Child health HIV, Sexual and reproductive health. In 10 of the 15 years of experience, Josephine has served in senior management positions (Director, COP, DCOP, Senior advisor) in USAID, UKaid, DANIDA and Private Donors funded programs. Josephine has recently taken up the role of Country Team Lead for USAID funded NPI Expand Project, implemented by the Palladium Group, that seeks to strengthen accountability capacities of local organizations to enable them to receive funding from donors and support health service delivery activities. Prior to this role, Josephine was the Project Director for the UKaid funded DESIP (Delivering Sustainable and Equitable Increases in Family Planning) programme in Kenya covering 19 counties working with local sub-grantees to implement. In addition, she has experience working at all levels of government systems: national, former provincial and district set up, training institutions and the current county governments. She also has international experience having provided technical assistance in HSS in Rwanda, Zimbabwe and South Africa. Josephine has authored and/ or contributed to a variety of technical publications, government strategies, guidelines, and training curricula. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Nursing Sciences from the University of Nairobi, a Master of Science degree in Public Health and finalizing a master’s degree in business administration (MBA) at Strathmore University, Kenya.
